Grandparent with custodial guardiandhip

What is the name of your state? Michigan
I have custody of my granddaughter now comes both parents wanting joint custody, Sarah is 18 mos old The dad has only seen her 3 times. The mom lived with us for 17 mos then moved out Please help me to do what is right for Sarah neither parent is fit and they say I am an alcholic, I can't afford a lawyer at this time. What can I do we go to court on the 26 1 day away the father has an attorney me and the mom don't
