Question

My best friend lives in PA. She has been married 8 years. Her husband is having an affair, they've had problems for a long time and she wants a divorce. Problem is, when she moved to PA with him 5 years ago, she quit her job, withdrew all her retirement and has been a housewife raising her 2 children he adopted and one that was born after they were married. Now he's moving out and the bills are behind...about $2000 or so and she's about to lose the house and get all the utilities cut off. Needless to say, she can't afford a lawyer either, and it doesn't look like he's going to do anything about it besides moving out (and in with his girlfriend, it looks like) I am trying to find information for her on what she can do to get him to catch the bills up and continue to pay them. She is willing to look for a job, but also has to be careful because of the kids still at home. Also, does anyone know of a lawyer in Washington Co. PA that would be willing to help her? He's always been real secretive about what he makes and he's barely ever given her enough money to pay the bills much less buy food and clothes for the kids. I've been searching and searching and I'm just running out of ideas as to what to tell her. Thanks.

Until the divorce is final, he is responsible for providing a roof over their heads, and utilities as well as food. She might be able to try Social services or Child services.....not sure if they can help, but they might be able to direct her in the right direction. She really needs a lawyer. There may be legal aid availible in her area. Also he will have to submit a copy of his earnings when they to go to calculate child support.

Good Luck and God Bless
