It appears that the FreeAdvice.Com server went offline for some unknown reason at 11:30 p.m., Pacific Time, on October 23, 2000. At 12:24 a.m., on October 24, 2000, the Server mysteriously came back to life.

Wouldn't you know it. Just when stuff like that happens, I was just about ready to render some sage advice. Shucks!! Now, I forgot. See, that's what happens with old age.

The problem has been reported to the management.

I was waiting and waiting so long to get online I fell asleep. When I awoke at my computer it was the next day. I was thinking maybe the site was down while they brought in a new more powerful server with 24/7 online T3 connections and redundant backups every 10 minutes and a powerful software awitch to handle 1 million aliases plus 35 foreign language translations. (German included) Wow. Sprecken de software.

Homey:

Here's what I got from Mary today . . .

Saw your "message"/posting this morning. Checked with webmaster and
received the following general information.

1. It probably was for system maintenance.
2. Any time less than about 1 hour, the system automatically re-boots.
3. If a system is not up after 4+ hours, it means it is locked up
completely and system couldn't re-start.

By the way, what does a period (.) mean as a response in the posting? Is
this some BB shorthand? Does this mean I should return to school for a
post-graduate degree in one or all of the following
Communications--Therapy--Heirgylipics--Spelling--Counseling?

No, only when the drugs wear off.

Sometimes I can't sleep so I close my eyes and count BB posts.

HomeGuru question: what is that speck of dust on my monitor?
Oh it is a period. Should not it be in quotation marks?

"." looks sort of like my dog Spot or a Halloween Pumpkin face.
