| I had my daughter when I was 16. My parents adopted her so that she could receive my father's medical benefits. It was my understanding that custody would be returned once I was able to support the child on my own. My parents are now divorced and my mother no longer wants to relinquish custody of my daughter (she is currently receiving child support frm my father). I want my daughter back and my father supports me 100% How do I go about doing this? I know that there is probably no way of avoiding the court room. Do I have a case? |

| Unfortunately, when you say your "parents adopted her," this means that you had to have Voluntarily Relinquished (VR'd) your parental rights when you were 16 -- meaning, there's no turning back. No, there is no way to fight this now, unless your parents VR, and you adopt. Chances are, this will only cause confusion for the child. Sorry. ******* Always check advice with your own attorney and State procedures. |
