IL.:adult son wants gaurdianship of minor son

ILLINOIS: My husbands adopted adult son, the natural son of husbands ex, wants guardianship of natural minor son. Minor son has been living with ex since their divorce in 1996. My husband has only seen his son a couple times since the divorce because the ex refuses to abide by court order. When we went back to court the judge did nothing to correct the visitation problems. Now we're not sure why the ex is giving guardianship to the older son or how my husband consenting to guardianship would affect his parental rights.
My husband and his ex have joint custody of minor son.
