illegal and need child support

please help me, i have a neighbor who needs some advice. she is here in the u.s. illegally. she has a child from a u.s. citizen. can she take him to court to get child support? he says that he will tell them she is here illegally and works illegally. please let me know what she can do. he also said he could get custody because she could be deported at anytime. she has no way of staying here legally. and has used medicaid for the birth of her baby. she is worried that she will get in trouble for getting benefits. is there any truth to what he is saying? thanks in advance.
