I'm from central New York. I am 17 years old, going to be 18 in May, and I need to leave home. I know that leaving is legal from age 16, but it's staying out of home that is the problem. I've had many friends who were forced to go home because of the law, even though they were old enough to leave. Although my situation is different from theirs, and I'll be staying with a responsible family, I don't know what rights my mom still has over me. Any advice?
