Contractor completed job but presented final bill with additional charges of $6,000 over what contact stated. Most were duplicate charges for plumber which he said after the job was finished we should have provided. Original contract stated "plumbing included". He charged double the sq. footage for ceramic tile (200 sq. ft,we have only 110sq. ft). He would not discuss the additional charges, but left. We responded by letter detailing our position. He responded with a certified letter that a lein would be filed. Mortgage company is holding an insurance check for $6,000 until a paid in full receipt is sent by contractor. What is your advise?
Is this breach of contract?

You need to go see an attorney on this one as they will need to carefully read the contract and then compare that to the final bill. Only when both have been read and compared can an answer be given..
