Question

How do I get rep. or a lawyer based on my income, I am a single mom trying to fight an ex w lawyer. Do not have $ for a retainer. And can you find out if a household is reciving welfare? will states release such info?

Might I suggest you call your State Bar Assoc. and see if they have a listing of Family Law Attorneys that do Pro Bono work? You might also want to try your legal aide society in the metro area closest to you.

I am living in NC but filing in FL., so this means the metro area in Fl?

Why are you filing in FL ??

Are you the single mom of the child in question and does that child live with you ?

yes, single mom, have full cus. child lives with me. Filed for Motion to Modify, in Fl. last Feb. Has been one thing after another. It has been refered to mediation, but I was told they won't set a date till they ok a date with ex's lawyer. I was also told I am entittled to increase from date of original file of Modification.??

I read the bic mac gig in a reply somewhere else, makes sence. I file in Fl. because ex lives there. Going thru original county, of the divorse. I am usually in Fl. an "X" amount of days per year, and plan to move there soon. C.S paid thru Tallahasee Fl.. Ex has not contacted child since (or me) since April 2000.
