Unhappy

We live in the Northwestern area of the lower peninsula in Mich.I was granted Sole Legal & Physical Custody. After being seperated and divorced for 9(nine) years my Ex returned to the area. Even though he was an inactive parent, he filed for custody of my 9yr.old son. My Ex is now remarried, bought a house & lives on the other side of the county. He was granted custody although they never proved that I was an unfit mother.
I have been financially devasted by this legal battle. My son cries at night. He says that he is lonely and wants to come home. He is very afraid of his father as he is mean and very controlling. There aren't any funds left for more legal rep. Where are my son's rights??? Why am I having a difficult time trying to find help for him? It's very difficult to take him back when he is so upset. All most parents really want for their children is for them to feel safe & loved. How can I help my child??? I am about to stand out in front of the courthouse with flyers & signs> My community is up in arms about this and cannot believe that this has happened. What can we do to bring my son home??

I hate to ask this questions as you are obviously upset.. but what is missing from your post... there is no way an absent parent could return and then get a judge to take a child from his home of 9 years.. did you have an attorney.. did you appeal the decision ?
