I am expecting a baby, and am planning to marry the fater of the child, but not for sometime after the baby is born. I would like to sign my name/the fathers last name on the birth certificate with out having to legally go through a name change since we will be getting married in the future. Can I use my name/the fathers last name on the birth certificate?

Call me dumb but are you saying that you want to put your future last name on the birth certificate? If that is the case then i would think NOT b/c that person doesn't exist as of right now. Why not just leave your maiden name as the name of the mother? Do you not want your child to know you had him/her out of wedlock? I have 3 kids and on 2 of the birth certificates the name is the same. I had a baby out of wedlock and then a month and a half later we married but i never changed my name to his on the birth certificate of our daughter. That's who i was when she was born, i'm still her mother eventhough we had 2 different names at the time. what happens if something goes bad between you and the father? Not saying it would but what if?
