| You may legally change your name by filing a name change in court, and getting a document issued by a judge. You may also change your name by just using the new name in your daily interactions. |

While not a terribly difficult process, it does require a certain amount of legal accuity and knowledge of certain court rules and laws. If you want to take the plunge on your own, you may want to start by going to your nearest bookstore and looking for books on Name Change in their legal section. If you have an attorney make the Petition to the court, it could cost anywhere from $500.00 to $1,000.00, depending on the complexity and your particular situation. Remember, while you can call yourself anything you want without going to court, doing so does nothing for your legal documents; e.g., Social Security, Drivers License, etc. Good luck.
