my step son turned 13 in may, he feels he is old enough to make up his own mind now about when he wants to visit his mother, he decided he did not want to go back this time because his mother and step father(who is a member of the law enforcement in our town)locked him and my step daughter(who also wants to live with us-she is 11)out of the house because they had not cleaned house to their satisfaction, and were told they did not deserve any supper! Ihave contacted a lawyer but am unable to get an appt. for two weeks yet, she is calling over here trying to harass us, she told us that she could have a deputy sherrif come over and pick him up against his will and that she could tell him what to do untill he is 18 yrs. old!Is this true? also we plan on fighting for custody of my step daughter- she is willing to tell a judge that she wants to live with us- she feels as do we that these things are a form of abuse and that she is being mistreated.trying to hang in here for a couple of more weeks!-texas-grimes co.

I am a divorced dad with custody. I don't think that because the stepdad is a cop, it gives them the right to do as they please. This sounds like contempt of court. They must follow the divorce decree. Its the law. You may even have the oportunity to get this guy for abuse of his authority. Try contacting your county attorney. Also the Attorney General in Austin has a website. He has helped me with child support issues at no charge. good luck
