The owner of a fitness club I go to came onto me while I was out with some friends. I do not feel comfortable going there anymore. What can I do? I signed up for a 4 month trial period in June and it is almost up. One terms of this trial period is that I attend the club 3 times a week. I stopped going after the incident with the owner. The trial period is over at the end of October. Since I have not gone 3 times a week for the entirety of the trial period, I am supposed to abide to a 3 year lease. Please help me. I am not sure of my rights. Thank you, Jessica.

The Business/Finance Board would be able to better answer this...

Read your contract and see what it says about your "failure to pay" or what clause it might have to get out of the contract. Write down exactly what happened to you, with witnesses (and I hope you have some). Time and dates and exactly what was said. Now, go to the Court House in your town and file for small claims court. It will cost around $40-$100 depending on where you are. Ask for the money you have already invested if any and ask the judge to remove you from the contract. If the Fitness place doesn't show up, you might win by default (that means like baseball, if the opposing team doesn't show up, you win anyway). Get your documentation in order, look professional (no jeans or sweats) and go after them. Don't wait for them to make a judgement on your credit. It will stay on your credit for 7 years.
