Unhappy

My ex fiance and I had a child so dearly.
My problem is she consulted a lawyer and have asked me sign the paternity papers stating that I am the legal Father of the child and she also mentioned that this will also include my visitation rights. She also stated that I don't have any rights right now or what so ever unless this paper is signed to make it legal and that for me to have a rights as a father of my child. She said that this cost $2,500( I don't believe) which she would like to split with me.
First, I refuse to pay for anything since she didn't consult me for this matter. Second, why would she spend money like this just to make it legal for me as a paternal parent for my child. This doesn't really make any sense to me.
I can barely make any money to support my self. I give her most of my salary every Month and still, she want's more. I love my child so much and I don't want to loose her.
As far as visitation rights she now cut it to 2 days a week.
How can I get more time to visit my child and how can I take my child to my home during my time. Right now she wouldn't let me because she still breast feed which I understand.
My child is only 5 months old and I don't want her to suffer from all of this. How can I prevent her from moving out of State. Can she take my child out of state legally whether I sign this paper or not.
I would really appreciate it if someone can help me. I really can't afford to hire a lawyer.
Thank you!

Sounds to me like she likes having total control.Dont sign anything. She is trying to trap you.As far as visitation and the breast feeding thing, they sell breast pumps so you can pump it into a bottle. She is pulling your leg.I myself cant afford a lawyer thats why I get legal aid. It's free.I you dont qualify for legal aid and make more money than they allow then ask them where else you can go for help.In NY you can go to the court and file your own petition for visitation. It's real easy.So if you get no where with legal aid just go to the court and ask how to file a petition of visitation.Get prepared and put everything down on paper before you see the judge.Like what kind of visitation you want,(weekends, birthdays, every other bithday, half a day on birthdays and dont forget holidays)put everything in there INCLUDING moving out of State. If you dont state that in the court papers then she can do it,at least in NY you can.Protect yourself in all aspects.Good luck.

Sign it Sign it Sign it!. I am currently helping an unmarried dad try to get custody of his 2.5 year old. He is legally recognized as the father AND has resided in the same house with her, for her whole life. Despite this he has no rights. His ex has changed the baby's last name to her own and can leave with her at any time. Anything you can do to assert your rights as soon as possible, DO IT!
