I would like to know what is the proper procedure to follow in paternity testing. I've been told I might be the father of an unborn child. The mother is currently living in Wisconsin and I live in Michigan. The baby is due within the next month. I would like to know how I can request paternity testing. Do you have to hire a lawyer to file a court order to have the testing performed? If a lawyer is not necessary what agency should be contacted to have this testing performed? I am not sure if she is going to pursue testing. I would like to know if this child is mine as soon as possible. And I would also like to know what rights I have if I am the father of the child.
