Recently I ordered my ex to pay child support in excess of $40K because I need help financially and my ex has never paid. I feel that it is time to do something about it. However, my ex can be unstable. I am afraid that when my ex receives the order, this person will make a special trip to my home with the intentions of hurting or exterminating me and/or my child. It's very frightening to me. I stay awake at night paranoid that my ex is lurking around outside. I need help and quick! The police said they can't do anything unless my ex actually tries to harm us. I am afraid it will be too late then. Any suggestions???

My response:

1. Hire a 24 armed guard;

2. Install a Full, complete, security system with video, sirens, guard dogs, the works;

3. Move.

Thanks for the reply IAAL. You had great suggestions. However, I live on a large college campus in a small apartment(forgot to mention that in my 1st message). There are no animals allowed. I may be able to rig up some kind of alarm system. But I certainly don't have the money for a guard or to even move to another location. I am trying to finish up my masters. I am smart, but this situation is making me feel really stupid!

My response:

Do not merely "rig up" a security system on your own. Rather, call a reputable company, like Brinks Security Services, to go over all of the variables with you; e.g. the prices for different types of programs, and have it professionally installed.
