| My sister lives with me as a permanent partner. She is a single (never married)adoptive mother. I am a widow without children of my own. I work and support all of us while my sister stays at home. In order to get health insurance coverage for my 8-year-old niece, I was told I would have to adopt her. Can I adopt my niece as a second parent? I know that lesbian couples can do this, but what about sisters? |

| The answer varies - hire an adoption lawyer in your town/county. S/he will be most knowledgable about your prospects. Tracey ------------------ This is not legal advice and you are not my client. Double check everything with your own attorney and your state's laws. |
