Ok, I have a question. If my husband and I decided to separate, what would be the appropriate steps to take. We don't want to jump into a divorce just yet, but we want to be apart. (I hope that makes sense) But anyway, should we be "legally" separated. That way we are both "protected" from each other if "something" should happen? How much does it cost to get legally separated, what do we do and do we need an attorney?

I forgot to add that I live in Iowa...if that makes a difference on the "separating issue". (I changed my username) Thanks
