sharing transportation cost?

hello,I am in california, i live in san diego, my son is 10 hrs drive or 1 hour flight away from me, he lives with dad in sacramento. I have to go to mediation this coming dec.12 to ask for shared transportation cost, which will probally end up in court for a judges decision. I had some ideas on how dad could share transportation cost with me and need some advise on what you think i should ask for....first dad will not share the cost 50/50 so i asked him if he could help with atleast a third of the cost per visit, he answered yes but only if he can afford to, which to me is not solid enough answer, i need to know for sure if he will or not , he wants me to be fine with his IF we can afford to answer. or should i ask if we can put my ex 's child support payment towards transportation cost just for the times my son would come to visit? when dad first moved away with my son i agreed to share the transportation between cities, and when after i moved out of state for a few years dad agreed to share the transportation, so i dont understand why now that i am back in california, he refuses to share the transportation. thank you for reading my post and any advise**************brenda

Firstly, he was doing you a favor by paying it before. Now he has decided not to.

Second, you can not strip the CS payments to help with the transportation costs unless it is court ordered. If you do, it would give him grounds to go after the arrears in years to come.
