I live in ny, and i have found out that my sister in law is homeless, and now in a south carolina hospital. she needs a liver transplant. the hospital says that there is an ex-husband with her and they are ready to release her to some family. we have no family in s.c. Can we obtain a health care proxy so that info can be released to us without being responsible for paying the bill? can we also find out if she is divorced from this person? how can the hospital release her without keeping track of her in case they find a liver. how can they release her at all if she was homeless? please help.
