My wife is on the internet quite a bit. I suspect that she is cheating on me and contacting her lover using AOL instant messanger. Is it legal (in the state of Ohio) for me to install a keyboard interceptor program to log everything she types into the computer?

You have bigger problems than that, friend. You don't trust your wife. Either get into private/couples counselling or get into divorce court. Whether she's actually cheating is irrelevant. Could she ever really prove to you that she was faithful??

This is not legal advice and you are not my client. Double check everything with your own attorney and your state's laws.

Thumbs up

Unless she was smart enough to turn off your computers' logging system, your computer holds a history of every message sent, or received, ask someone with knowledge and they can instruct you how to find what you're looking for......Later!

Yes, you're right, but I'm not asking wether my marriage is in trouble, I'm asking if what I'd like to do is legal.

I'm not sure where you got the idea that every message sent with AIM or instant messanger is logged. I can assure you that they are not. AFAIK, once a message is sent, it is gone forever.

Exclamation

Yes, it's legal, and if you haven't found a shareware program yet, They're out there.
Check out your "recorder" in Windows first. I tried, but it didn't work for me. Wanted to see where the kids were going. There are of course, "hidden"programs that Work better than 'recorder'. PS

I'm considering "Keyboard Interceptor" for logging keystrokes. (It seems be be very highly rated http://www.zdnet.com/downloads/stories/info/0,,000UR2,.html)

Or ChatNanny for monitoring Chat and Instant messages (www.chatnanny.com)
