My adopted Mother stole the money out of my Savings Account. The catch, it was a joint account due to the fact I was under age at the time I opened it and never thought about switching it. So my mother stole all my money and I need some help to see if I can get it back. She didn't contribute to the fund so I don't see how this can be allowed my mother was recently broght up on charges of Child Abuse and I know shes worn thin with court. Im getting that way too! But I need to know if there is anyway I can get it back I think that if I might be able to get a court date, I might scare her into giving it back. She has an upcoming court date that will effect her adopted son she is trying to get out of paying child support. She had lost three of her children to DSS. I can only think that I can back her into a corner. Any advice ar laws I ve missed would be helpful I have been searching the net for ages!!

Sounds like you've got it figured out. If threatening her with going to court doesn't help, then go ahead and take her to court.

good luck!

Something else to think about is that you may want to try to provide proof that you made ALL the deposits for the money she withdrew. Being that it was a joint account, she can take money out. Dig up all you can from the bank and your work(if you work) to where you can show the amounts that were deposited. That's just a suggestion b/c you do want to have proof that it was your money she took.

Small Claims court does not cost much and no lawyers are allowed. Go to the help section on this board to read all about it.

If you can prove that you put all the money in via statements etc and that she took the money out, then you have a good chance.
