| Grandson (age 11) put in custody of an absent father-child runs away from him 3 times. Last time the deadbeat dad notified me (child's grandparent) that dad was going to put him in foster care-I asked to have him sent to us to go to school and complete his 1 yr probation in Fl. Probation dept transferred from Co. to Fl. 2 weeks after child arrives, I called and asked child's dad if he would sign an agreement of temp custody (modification) and also contribute 100. per mo. for child's incidentals. Childs mother had agreed to this (she's non-custodial parent. He agreed via telephone. Next day social worker calls from Co. telling me dad wants child sent back immediately. Child has already been enrolled in school and is active in scouting here. Social worker is trying to talk him into letting child stay until school is out. Child tells us that dads wife has a bad temper and has hit him in the face and also has used a board to spank him. Social services goes to court 10/5 to close there case on this**************do we have a chance at all of being able to keep him - relying on the report of Social services? |

| You should have a fair chance of petitioning the court for custody. What I do not know is what happens at this hearing.. do they close it and a judge orders the child back.. or do you have a chance to ask a judge then and there to grant temp custody. You need to ask the SS working what is going to happen on the 5th. ------------------ Psst... I do not work for Macdonald’s or Burger King, and even if I did, I would not tell you. For sloppy bread, tired tomatoes, frozen onions, watered down mayonnaise and imitation meat, please find a drive through window with a person who openly admits they make that stuff. My advice above is equal to the advice they would give if you asked that person a legal question. |
