I need advise for a co-worker. He recently divorced. His monthly income $1180 before taxes. He also receives $400 for housing suppliment for his one child. He lives in the dorm so does not have rent. His ex makes
$4800 a month. He doesn't get to spend time with his child because she moved 8 hours away. He has been ordered to pay child support in the amount of $700 a month, over 2/3 of his check.

Please help....

Both live in California. He cannot afford a lawyer. Where should he go for help. Military lawyers won't advise him.

Was the move to another state ?.. when did she move ?. What state is he in ?

From the basic calculations, 700 is close to being illegal for 1 child with those figures.. something is wrong..
