unmarried father wants custody of newborn

Hello advice world! I'm in a bind here and need some help. My ex-girlfriend and I just split-up and she carrying my child. I want custody because this her 2nd child at age eighteen. She lives at home with mom, brother, and 2-year old son, in a 2br\1ba trailor. It's hard for the four of them to survive on one income, and a newborn will make it harder. I feel that my baby will not get the care and attention it needs. I'm 23, have a steady job, live at home, and will be able to care for it. I'm not going to be mean and say that she can't see the baby at all and run with the baby when she comes near. She will be able to visit anytime she wants and even have the child stay with her occasionally. I need advice on what I should do and how I should approach this. Opinions are welcome also! Are you on good terms with her? Try suggesting this to her given her situation maybe she might agree. In family courts any time you both agree it makes it much much much easier.
