CAN A ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT GAIN U.S. CITIZENSHIP, JUST BY IMPREGNATING A WOMAN IN THIS COUNTRY? CAN THEY BE GRANTED A STAY IN THE COUNTRY FOR THIS OR DO THEY HAVE TO PROVE PATERNITY? MEXICO HAS COMPLETELY DIFFERENT LAWS THAN US! I JUST DO NOT UNDERSTAND THHIS LAW AT ALL!!

As I understand it, yes, being a parent to a child born in this country DOES grant status.

What is even crazier is the US policy of NOT granting automatic US Citizenship to children born of our service personal overseas. All over the world, everywhere we have had us troops stationed, there are half-American babies that the US government won't claim. Because they are born to US personnel and 'indiginous' mothers.
