BG's MOM

My 13 year old son was hit by an automobile in April 1999. He has frontal lobe damage which has changed his personaliy a great deal. He has problems controlling his behavior. Our largest problem is his anger. He is verbally and physically abusive to me, his mom. He is 5-11, 240 lbs. I am 5-1, 110 lbs. A couple of weeks ago he was charged with battery. This will go before a juvenile judge soon. I was advised to make him a ward of the state. What does this mean, how do you go about doing this, where do these children go? And, what are the long term effects of doing this to a child? If anyone has any advise or experience with this, please let me know. Thank you.
