Question

I have had custody of my 10 yr. old daughter for almost 9yrs.,well back in Febuary my daughter came home from visitation with her daddy, she said she wanted to live with him,she couldnt give a good reason why?So after awhile thinking about it,I told her I would let her try it for 1 week.So I called her daddy, ask him to come get her and I explained to him this was just a temporary action, only 1 week, just to let her see if this was really what she wanted, when her daddy picked her up,I told him she was to be in school everyday,he agreed to take her to &from school that week she was there.Next thing I know,he had called the school that I had her enrolled in & ask that her records be transferred to a school in his district. So,I phoned the school, they tell me a non custodial parent has the right to remove a child from school. Is there a law in South Carolina saying this is legal to take my child out of school without my consent? What's the point in having custody,if the other parent has the same rights.Thank you.

Red face

Oh wow, something doesn't seem right there. I really don't think he had the right to do that..legally or morally. I would look into that, and probably get your daughter back asap. Sounds like he has taken advantage of the situation, and before you know it he is going to be proceeding even more with nonsense. If the school is not cooperating (which I beleive they are wrong) I think your only alternative is to obtain an attorney to get your daughter back with you, and back in the school you put her in. Good luck!
