PTO questionWhat is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Indiana is the state, my question is can an employer who gives PTO (paid time off) instead of vacation time require you to take the PTO if you are sick or are taking time off for a doctor visit? The hours scheduled for the day in question is 12 hours, the person is working 10 and they are requiring them to be paid the 2 hours in PTO time. And any other day a person is off, they are requiring them to take the PTO time for whatever hours are scheduled. |

| Yes, they may. That's what PTO is for; to substitute for pay missed because of missed work time.

| Of course they can. In all 50 states. |
