I am located in PA.

I recently was told by my company my vacation time was being "corrected" to meet with the standard guidelines of the corporation. They reduced my vacation by one week from 4 to 3 weeks. I had 4 weeks since 2008. Starting 2012, i will have 3. I was provided no compensation for the change and not much of an explanation. Can the company do that?

Yes a company can do that. The explanation they provided you was sufficient. It was to meet the standard guidelines for the corporation.

OP, if you are an “employee at-will,” then your employer can unilaterally reduce your prospective vacation time without any consideration or explanation.

If, however, you are covered by a collective bargaining agreement and/or an individual employment contract, then the terms of the applicable agreement would apply.
