A salaried employee is allotted 4 days to meet a sales calls/visits quota each week. Within those 4 days the employee works at or over 40 hours each week. The employee has no control over the scheduling of these calls/visits but usually there is no issue meeting the weekly quota within those days. There recently has been a shortage in business and the employer is now requiring the reps to utilize the entire week (including designated days off in the past) to reach the quota without extra compensation. Salaried employees are to be fully compensated regardless of hours worked in a work week correct? Can employers legally require employees (salaried of otherwise) to work past 40 hrs and on their days off without overtime pay?

Salaried is just a description of how the employee gets paid. What's important is whether or not the employee is exempt or non-exempt.

Exempt employees are never required to be paid any more than their set salary regardless of the number of hours worked.

Employee is exempt but can the employer require that work be done 7 days if they deem that's needed?
