What is the name of your state? Indiana

My father-in-law is about to start receiving benefits from social security. His wife never worked. On the SSA website it says that she is entitled to benefits through him. If she turns 62, and he is still alive, is she able to receive those benefits in addition to his? Does this deplete his benefit faster? Does it affect his benefit at all?

He will continue to receive his benefit. His wife will receive her own benefit based on his earnings. At age 62, that would be 37.5% of his amount.

Does this deplete his benefit faster?
No.

Does it affect his benefit at all?
No.
