| And this matters because....? 401k plans are Federal, not state. The only thing I can think of is to talk to the IRS. If an employer has lost track of an employee, the IRS will forward notices; I don't know if they'll do it in reverse but it's worth a try. |

| The runaround from whom? You've had money in that 401K for 20 years? How long ago did you terminate? Maybe the PBGC?[url=http://www.pbgc.gov/]Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation (PBGC)[/url]

| Not sure why they're giving you the runaround. If you know who the employer is, you can simply ask them who the custodian/administrator (brokerage firm/bank... etc) is for the plan. As long as they have an account in your name, and since you're no longer employed by that company, you should be able to get some info from them directly.
