When one decides to defend an indefensible position, one must be prepared for the possibility of losing. Thus, my information is also valuable, and more realistic.
Every person charged with an offense has a defense. There is no such thing as "indefensible". You are so narrow minded as to believe that if a person was exceeding a speed limit that there is no defense. That is just simply wrong and that is what makes your "you are guilty" input distracting and worthless. I have seen MANY cases get dismissed (including my own) where the defendant never disputes his speed. There is MUCH more to a defense than "did you do it or not". Maybe the moderator could simply post a sticky thread at the top that says "Zigner thinks everyone is guilty" and then you wouldn't have to individually explain to each OP why you think he is guilty.

And, I am really not sure why you choose to continue with your attacks (however masked). I would request that you treat me with the same level of courtesy that I have extended to you since our little break.
1. Truth is not an attack.

2. You don't just unring a bell.

Again, what is your DEFENSE to this charge?:rolleyes:
What is your point with all of your posts? The OP did not come here to defend himself to you. He came here so someone could help him prepare a defense. That's like going to the hospital and having the doctor ask you what your diagnosis is. You make absolutely no sense at all... other than you enjoy poking at people who are legitimately asking for help. Your input is no help. Why don't you just save it for the person who posts here stating that he is guilty and just wants to confirm that there is no defense for his case. When that happens, you will have all the justification to post your usual blather.

Thanks

Maestro, JIM & CdwJava

Thank you very much for your input, you've been very helpful.

Thinking back, I do wish I had resisted answering the officer's questions. It may turn out that my own statements make the difference between the case being dismissed and pleaing to a lesser charge. I will take your advice and submit a discovery to find out how exactly the officer claims to have measured my speed. Hopefully he used visual estimation as I think that method will be the easist to dispute; at least down to reasonable doubt of 5% accuracy.

Thanks again. :D

You're welcome - and good luck with your case. I am glad you are prepared for a negative outcome, as is most likely in your case.

I have to admit that I've been on the 57 Freeway once, & I swore I will ever get near it ever again! Especially the southbound portion just south of the 210. That, is a speeding ticket waiting to happen.
I'll spare myself the agony of repeating the story. But what I will say is that my Escort did not even flinch! Which leads me to my question.
. . . (also my Valentine 1 was silent)
. . . I am not one of those "Ricky Racers" merging all over the road . . .
I'm just curious as to why you would choose to spend $400+ on a Valentine if youi are NOT a "Ricky Racer" type driver!

Haha, very astute.

I've had the detector for a while and when I bought it I was in the habit of driving a bit faster than the speed limit; which I still do, but now that I'm older I tend to only move with the flow of traffic and rarely merge to overtake (merging to overtake is exactly how I got this ticket; I was speeding for all of 15 seconds). BTW: I was just south of the 10 comming up on my exit - Sunset Crossing in order to catch the 60.

In between where I used to work and home there were a couple streaches of road which were notorious radar traps and the cops in my area use Ka band with POP (really short bursts). Only a few detectors work well with this technology and I tend towards what I consider top of the line products. Also I like the directional indicators .

I does still come in handy when on the 15 south of the 91 (I live in Wildomar just past Lake Elsinore) since the flow of traffic is 80-85 while the limit is 70. CHP on this streach is usually looking for cars going much faster, but if the detector goes off I merge over to the right lane and hold 70 just to be on the safe side.

In addition to pacing, the officer could have used radar, lidar, and even visual estimation. The fact that your radar detector may not have gone off is not going to prove he was NOT using radar. Unless you are willing to hire an expert from the Valentine company to come in and debate the state's expert, that claim can likely be brought up, but it is not going to hold any controlling weight.

So, you might want to first seek discovery and find out if radar information is part of the officer's notes or released pursuant to discovery.

I agree.

And then re-emphasize that you must attack whatever method he used to determine your speed.

I've driven those EXACT stretches of road many times over the past 5 years and I've NEVER received a ticket. Furthermore, I have no radar detector.
I tend to obey the posted speed limit...

Those of us who like to heed the speed limit might care.

- Carl
Well then maybe you guys should join together on another thread or another site for your love-fest of obedience for speed laws.... however, the post of "I didn't get a ticket there" provides absolutely ZERO value to the OP and has only a very condescending intent. Therefore, garbage like that has no place here.
