What is the name of your state? South Carolina

We are in the process of completing the Medicaid form and have a question about how to handle her car. I know that is a non-countable asset, but I am still not sure how we should enter it on the form. Should we say it was gifted or sold? The car was worth about $4,000 and we took it and sold it for her and she let us keep the proceeds for helping her so much. So, technically a gift. But if we need to pay her back for the money in order for her to be compliant we will do that as well. We are very confused and we want to do what we would be everyone's best interest.
Thank you,
Allison

you will get a better response to this if you move it to "elder law" under wills and trusts. This forum is for grandparents who are petitioning for the right to see or have custody of their grandchildren.
