grandparents interfering with my ability to bond with my son

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Utah

I was devoriced in 2008, my youngest son chose to live with his father. However his father had become suicidal and had a police stand off with my son present. The police released my son to me, now his grandparents are trying to gain custody of my son. In the last year the GP's have told horrendous stories of me, scaring my son away from me. My son wants to be with his grandparents, however my son needs to be here with his siblings and his mother. He needs a consistant lfe with strong boundries. What routes can I take to ensure that GP's do not continue to disrupt our home, but that their rights are still being met.[/i]

Ok lets stop right there. The grandparents have NO rights! Period. You dont need to insure that anything. If you would like to have grandparents see him then tell them they are more than welcome to visit him in YOUR home. If they start talking bad about you then tell them they need to leave. Now how old is your son? Did you get emergency custody for him through the courts?

My son is 12. His grandparents are terrible people with a lot of money, they will try everything to gain custody. I have not been able to go to thr courts, this took place 10-15, the courts are closed on fridays, so I am trying to get some er info. I do have a police case number. The police did not call CPS to report that he put my son in direct danger, do i call cps

I agree with this assuming that the court did not give the grandparents any rights at the time that they gave mom custody.

However, if the courts did not specifically order visitation for the grandparents, then mom absolutely can control the contact that the gps have with the child, to ensure that inappropriate things are not being said.

How do you know the police didnt call? They are mandated reporters they MUST call anytime they attend a scene where a child is being put in harm. If they dont its against the law. Yes you call CPS and yes You get your butt down to the court house and file for an emergency hearing RIGHT AWAY! Do not wait. Make sure you have police report in hand when you go as well. The grandparents can be terrible if they want they still have NO RIGHTS to that child unless a previous court hearing has given them that. Do NOT let them scare you. If they try and sue for rights then you request they pay for your attorneys fees and you fight it tooth and nail. But the very first thing you do is FILE FILE FILE for emergency custody. Or else when the other parent gets out of jail guess what they still have custody. So CALL CPS CALL THE POLICE AND FIND OUT IF AND IF NOT WHY THEY DIDNT CALL CPS AND FILE WITH THE COURTS FOR CUSTODY>
