grandparent's wanting to see grandchildren in NY

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? NY
I am desperatly wanting to see my beautiful grandaughter who is 6 months old. My son and his girlfriend are seperated and he is living with me. My son has been trying to see his daughter and can only see her a few days a week and only for a few hours. He can only visit her at the mother of my grandchild's home.I think she does this so I can not see the baby.
I so much want to be able to see my grandaughter but her mother will not let me. I call over to set up times when I can go and visit but most times my phone calls go unanswered, and no explination is given. My son wants me to be able to see the baby but his ex girlfriend will not allow it.
What rights do I have to be able to see my grandaughter?
Please help me, I am so heartbroke over this!!

You have no rights to a grandchild. Only parents have rights. Tell your son to file for visitation/custody, once a court order is established you can see the child on HIS time.

At 6 months old you have NOT been able to even establish a relationship with the " child " to even be able to show the court why it would be in the best interest ( under the court's guidelines ) to be awarded grandparents visitation rights .

You'd be wasting your money even to file , because you'd need a lawyer .

Your son needs to petition the court for Custody/visitations , as was advised.
