Question

Please help me

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Utah

I have had guardianship of my granddaughter for 4 years. Her mother has been in and out of homeless shelters and has been on drugs for years. There was a span of time she hadnt seen her daughter for 2 years. My granddaughter has no relationship with her mother. They talk on the phone but she gets so fustrated because her mother doesnt pay attention to her. Her mother lives in Arizona and we recently moved to Utah in May of 2008.

Recently her mother has tried to get custody of her daughter back and my granddaughter is so upset about it. She is 10 years old and not able to make decisions yet so I have to try to fight for her to stay with me. The courts ordered an ad litem for my grand daughter who we have been in contact with. Her ad litem states that her mother could be in trouble for abadonment. Yesterday we had the court hearing and CPS had stated that the mother has had 11 CPS Calls on her since 2006 (she still has custody of her other daughter) and the judge asked me if we have filed any guardianship papers here in Utah so the case can be moved. They are telling me either guardianship papers or papers to delinguish the mothers rights. I am so confused with what to file!! Please help me out. What do I need to file to get custody of my grand daughter so I dont have to worry about her mother and where can I find that form so I can get it filed before our next court date. because the mother lives in Arizona and I am here in utah, all the attorneys in Arizona tell me they cant help me because the laws are different. Anyone from Utah know what I need to file????

Thanks

You seriously need an attorney and should scrape up the money to get one. You are lost and quite frankly need the guidance to help you so that your grandchild remains with you.

Nothing stated by me should be taken as giving you legal advice or forming an attorney/client relationship. The devil is in the details after all.
