temporary legal guardianship

i am 17 and living in CA but i want to live with my grandparents in minnesota, where i would be until i was 18 in august and my dad will only send me if my grandparents have legal guardianship, and are fully liable of me, whats the fastest and easiest thing to do, and will a temporary legal guardianship be enough?
