What law applies?

My daughter was born in texas, but we moved to Indiana less than a month later, and now my insane mother in law has guardianship of my little girl in Illinois. I will be getting my daughter back in the near future, and I want to know what state's law applies to my daughter in terms of grandparents rights. I do NOT want my mother in law to be able to get access to my daughter without me around and my consent for any period of time, and really need to know what I'm dealing with.

Any help is appreciated.

huh?? You left out the most important facts. Why is the child in IL. with your MIL? Are you still married to the father? What are his feelings on this matter? Has child protective services been involved?

EDIT TO ADD: Okay I read your other thread. Delete this thread or lock it and keep ALL questions regarding this matter to ONE thread.

"Yes...I did learn interesting things!"
"Would you share with me an interesting fact?"
"Wellll....I learned that Naked Mole Rats are WICKED naked!"

Okay. I just thought that since family law was in one spot and grandparents rights were in another, that I'd get better help breaking them down.

You never get better help by leaving out very significant parts of the story.... and there is a LOT left out of this post... a lot. So much, that you should just do like Blue said and delete this thread.

That's fantastic, but as far as I was aware, I had provided all the information needed to get a very simple answer to what, as per my knowledge, was a perfectly acceptable question in the first place. Which state's law does this fall under? I have plenty of common sense, just no legal knowledge.

Well your common sense should tell you based on the circumstances of the guardianship a few different stat's are relevant. Your question is too vague to answer.

Delete this thread and keep to the other.
