Do I have to pay.

What is the name of your state? Illinois

I left my job on March 17th. My portion of PPO insurance was paid in full through the end of march.

Employer 3 weeks later said I owed $2,159.61 because they paid for April and May and my insurance premium was increased in January after my 60th birthday. I told them I would not pay because I did not authorize them to pay April and May premiums for me. They were able to cancel April and May but say I still owe them $623.03 because of the premium increase in January. I contend that I was never informed by the employer or the insurance company about any increase and should not be held responsible for clerical error. They had 3 months to inform me and correct the deduction.

My question is...Can I be held responsible for that increase?

Thank you. What is the name of your state?
