| Doctor billing years later for covered costs What is the name of your state? PA
Yesterday I received a bill from a doctor for services from 2001-2003. This is no longer my primary care physician. It has listed dates of services, the fact that I paid my copay, what the insurance company paid and what adjustments were made. It still lists that I owe $190. Since they aren't detailed bills, I don't know what the services were. I am assuming they were for regular doctor's visits due to sinus infections, etc and there should have been nothing provided that my insurance company would not pay for. Can a doctor bill for these services, even though they have a contract with an insurance company to provide care with the agreement that a patient is only responsible for the copay? And can they bill me now, 5 years later, even though no previous bill was sent? |
