Health insurance is really expensive and many companies can't afford it anymore.

There are only two states where an employer is required by law to provide health insurance and PA is neither of them.

That being said, is health insurance being discontinued for just you? Just your department? Just certain levels of employee? The entire company?

Insurance isn't being discontinued, company is just deciding that the employee must pay the premiums.

I'm guessing this is a small business. My dad runs a small business, he's a dentist with one full time receptionist and 2 part time hygienists. The receptionist (also office manager, assistent, bookkeeper, etc) has worked for him for as long as I can remember and he pays for her insurance as part of her salary. I helped him decide on a plan one year and saw what he paid for small group insurance for his family and the one employee....ouch! It was like $1500 a MONTH and that was probably 4 or 5 years ago, I'm sure it's much more now. So it's not surprising that when costs need to be cut, this is one of the first places companies look.

Ah. I read it differently but upon rereading I think you are right.

That being the case, the question becomes whether or not PA requires an employer to provide any particular percentage of the premium and, if so, whether or not the employer is adhering to that requirement.
