health insurance payroll deduction reimbursement

What is the name of your state? Virginia

I recently got insurance through SRC, an Aetna company, through a rate negotiated by my employer. The insurance was bad; any savings I thought I would be getting was eaten up in denied claims and poor prescription drug benefits, so I cancelled the policy effective 4/20and was given a policy cancellation confirmation for that date. The payments were taken as a payroll deduction. and the coverage is effective from Monday through Sunday of the week following a deduction. The deduction taken from the check I received 4/9 would have covered the period between Monday, April 16, and Sunday, April 22. Deductions were also taken from my check on 4/16 and 4/23. I was told that it would take "a couple of pay periods" for the deductions to stop, mostly because it takes my employer that long to process the request. I feel that I am owed a reimbursement for at least the payments taken from my account on 4/16 and 4/23, and possibly for the two days (4/21 and 4/22) after I cancelled the policy. This is really frustrating; my employer won't reimburse me for the funds, even though it was their fault that the request took so long to process, and I'm being given the run-around by SRC (I've been told I need to speak with a "client advocate" to seek reimbursement). What am I legally entitled to?

Thanks,
Will
