how long am i liable?

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Washington

I was seen by a massage practitioner in 2006. I got a bill in July 2008. I had no idea there was any moneys left owing, and thought it odd to get it 1 1/2 years later. I checked with my insurance company, and they told me I was not obligated to pay, since it was > 1 year, but they also gave me the 10% that was still pending. I sent her a check for this amount. Then in 1/09, I get another letter saying she wants $240, that apparently I verbally agreed to (on top of what was billed to and paid for by insurance). I asked for something I had signed showing that I knew about this, but she says it was a verbal agreement between us. I don't think I should have to pay it, don't have recollection that I owed more money, and feel like it is quite late to be asking for it years later. How long do practitioners have to send you a bill for services performed? I know it's only $240, but it's the principle of the thing. Should I just pay it, or ignore it? Can she come after me?
Thanks!

Technically you owe the money until you pay it, but the statute of limitations for written contract debts in WA is 6 years - you are not near that yet.
