Individual coverage for person over 64

What is the name of your state? TX

The person is over 64, once enrolled in Medicare but dropped out because there was a period that she could not make payments. New Medicare enrollment starts only in January 2007 to be effective in July 2007.

What a person to do in the meantime? She is not employed and will not be to get a group coverage.

Are there ANY insurance plans, short-term or not, that can be purchased by people over 64? (we'll pay for it, in case you ask).

What are her options?

Thank you.

I'm sure there are, but they'll be costly and may not be easy to find. (I don't know of any off the top of my head.)

I would strongly recommend that you work with a broker on this issue.

Most health ins. companies require an applicant to be less than age 64 1/2 (closer to age 64 than age 65). You may be able to find coverage through a broker as suggested by cbg but the premium will be high & the policy will probably have a high deductible. Also, we do not know what kind of health the person is in & this could make a difference in getting coverage & not getting coverage.
