Individual plans

What is the name of your state? AZ I have a question reguarding pre-existing guidlines in relation to individual health insurance plans. I had a late misscarriage 18 months ago and while in the hospital a series of blood tests were done that discovered I am a carrier ( heterozygous) for a genetic "mutation." It is nothing I need to treat or even suffer or have symptoms with. After the pregnancy was over I tried to go back to my old insurance with an individual plan through blue cross blue shield. I was denied based on the genetic test ( heterozygous for Factor V.) Am I uninsurable in the individual health coverage market? What if I don't disclose the blood work info, it has been longer than 6 months, is that the cut off for pre-existing condition info disclosure with individual plans?

I would definitely not suggest purposely omitting information from your applications. That's fraud and can void your whole policy with no refund, or worse.

I worked for an ins. co. (part of the time as an underwriter) and you most likely would be declined for an individual health ins. policy at most companies. However, it wouldn't hurt to shop around. Also, answer all questions on the ins. application truthfully or as indicated by ecmst12, the policy could become void & nothing payable.
