Insurance company will not provide written policy

What is the name of your state? What is the name of your state?Texas

I have asked my medical insurance company for a writen copy of what is covered in my plan. They won't provide it, they tell me to call their 800 number.

Some years ago, I had the same insurance company, through a different job and they tried to get out of paying some medical bills, at that time I had the benefits book and read to them what it said, and eventually they paid.

Are they required by law to provide me with written proof / documentation on what is covered?

thanks

First thing, you should check with your employer's HR dept. Those reps should have the information you are looking for, on paper. If they do not, call your customer service number on your insurance ID card, and ask for the manager. Do not take no for an answer.

yes Federal law requires that your employer provide you with a copy of the policy upon request.

If they do not contact the insurance company directly. If that doesn't do any good, then call the State Board of Insurance at Austin.
