Medi-Cal

What is the name of your state? CA

Doctor's office sent my mother to collections for dates of service 2003 and 2004 even though she had full and active Medi-Cal coverage. The collection agency wouldn't even talk to us. The Dr's office is saying that "well, the charges were not paid by insurance". Medi-Cal won't pay now after 2-3 years. My mother was never informed that she has outstanding services, the first statement she received was in Jan 31 of 2006! at which time it was too late for her to be able to do anything about the charges. Dr's office is not willing to take her out of collections. My mother is disabled and cannot work and they want $1600.00 from her......Can we take them to small claims court? I have called everybody I could, (Medi-Cal, Dr's office, County office) and no one is willing to help...
I do not want her credit to be distroyed because of someone else's negligence.
Any advice would be really greatly appreciated....thank you for your service.
